Thought I would kick things off on the forum with an introduction thread!

For those of you just joining the forums now after the Metal Temple re-launch then please introduce yourself here and give other members a chance to welcome you into the heavy metal community!

My name is Josh West, I am 20 and currently living in the UK! I am currently at university, in my second year, studying 'Magazine Journalism & Feature Writing' - It is ok, but not enough, music/video game/comic book journalism to suit me… too many of the other students and lecturers all love fucking fashion! You might have seen some of my work around here before.

I also am a sales assistant at GAME, have been for three years…(sadly) and well …. that's my story!

I love heavy metal, especially the NWOBHM stuff and of course the mighty world of Thrash!

Top 5 bands you ask?
Iron Maiden, Megadeth, AC/DC, Anthrax, …. And i dunno about the last band…errr to hard to pick… hmm maybe Dio era Black Sabbath? Who knows, I guess it is impossible to choose a top 5 bands, especially as my top 20 constantly changes!!

Anyway, introduce yourselves and lets all talk METALLLL!!

He sure is an incredible guitar player, but I surely wouldn't place him in my top list. Anyway, that's definitely a matter of personal taste… ;)

My name is Mike. I've been reviewing for this site for about a year and Metal Archives for about 4 years under the name "pinpals." I'm pretty tired so I'll have to expand upon this post tomorrow.

True everyone has their own taste in music. Hell I love Mago de Oz, Tierra Santa & Mactep(Russian band) I don't understand a fuckin' word thay are singing But damn they have some killer tunes. Firewind isn't on my list because of Gus G, even though Firewinds first two cds are just good not great IMO. Yet for me Forged By Fire & Allegiance both kick major ass & The Premonition is damn good. I like the work he did in Dream Evil, Nightrage & Mystic Prophecy too. I can't play, sing or write music I just like to listen to music. Now that Gus G. is playing for Ozzy I  hope he can add some life to Ozzy's music, the last good thing Ozzy released was No Rest For The Wicked in my opinion anyway.

To elaborate, I am a big fan of thrash, doom and traditional heavy metal, along with being a proud follower of progressive metal :) I hate metalcore. I really do. The greatest album of all time is Opeth's Blackwater Park. Savatage's Edge of Thorns is a close second. Endgame rules, World Painted Blood is awful. Alice in Chains is a metal band and their new album was the best album of 2009. Kiss is definitely not metal. Anyone that disagrees with me on any of these points will be banned :P

Hello fellow metalheads!

I'm a Greek metalhead in my very late thirties (38 that is), and i've been a metal fan since 1984. I was introduced to Iron Maiden Wasp, Judas Priest and then, I had the privilege to live and witness the rise and fall of Thrash Metal in the mid 80s. I've explored may genres, discovered many excellent bands since.

My favorite bands are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Slayer, Metallica and Black Sabbath, and besides classic heavy metal, I love classic thrash & 70's hard rock.

"Number of the Beast" and "British Steel" are two of my all time favorites, and lately i cannot stop listening to "Aealo" of my compatriots, Rotting Christ.

I've studied mathematics & statistics and I work to the IT sector of a major greek bank.

My son who is 9 & his friends love their rap crap, but there is hope I was driving my son & a few of his friends to the movies Sunday when Twisted Sister Were Not Gonna Take It came on the radio all them little fuckers knew the song  and I had to crank it up(had to drown out their voices somehow). My daughter is the worst with her ABBA shes 7. My wife took her to see Mamma Mia! Got her the dvd when it came out & I don't think I can remember a saturday night that she has had friends stay over that I don't here that fucking movie or  some of Abba's music blasting through  her bedroom door. God help me!!!!!!!!!!

As for Venom I only have three of their cds Welcome To Hell(also on lp), Black Metal (also on tape & lp) & Calm Before The Storm. I don't have a whole lot of Black Metal I have some Elvira Madigan, Dimmu Borgir, Borknagar, Cradle Of Filth, Bal-Sagoth, & Arcturus, The Sham Mirrors is a great cd IMO. I seems that Venom is stright foward Black Metal & some of the other bands are more symphonic black metal.

Arcturus \m/, although I'd say they're more avant-garde metal as opposed to black metal on their later albums.

We love metal, we love to play metal and we're here to kick ass doing it.
