1. Is it true that it's best to learn on acoustic guitar first and then switch to electric guitar later?
2. If so, my mom has an old 12 string acoustic that is collecting dust in her basement. Can I just learn on that or should I shell out the money for an acoustic.
3. Is it possible to teach oneself online or is it better to learn the basics through a teacher (guitar center, sam ash, whatever)?
Any other advice would be appreciated as well. Thanks for your help!
Achievement of your happiness is the only moral purpose of your life, and that happiness, not pain or mindless self-indulgence, is the proof of your moral integrity, since it is the proof and the result of your loyalty to the achievement of your values.
I'm an amateur player myself and far away from being called a shredder or something even close, but I think having a teacher for face-to-face lessons is a must. Usually someone could first scratch an acoustic/classical guitar because it there were more chance for one to exist in a typical house (compared to an electric one). Don't know if it matters, though…

For so very long nothing else mattered…"

I don't think it is 100%. The acoustic and the electric guitar have many differences and a totally different way of playing. It depends on what you want to learn. I have a Fender acoustic that I mostly use to write some riffs or acoustic songs etc. If you want to learn to play the electric guitar I suppose it would be better to get one. My opinion.
