Hmm... An Italian progressive death metal band. Don’t know many of them, at least any good ones. But there’s always room for a start right?

Nacom is a band with a very short biography. "Affliction" is their first demo and it includes three songs written in different time periods. Apart that the band has only a couple of shows and local contests to show as a history. That’s about it - I don’t have anything else to mention about the band’s background.

The three songs in this demo bring mostly in mind the latest works of Dark Tranquility (the band mentions as influences also Dimmu Borgir and Children Of Bodom but I fail to see any comparisons). Their sound is definitely Swedish area oriented. The keyboards play a very important role while some abstract time signatures add this "prog" feeling to the whole package.

The problem like most progressive "wannabe" bands around the globe is that Nacom sound often complicated for no apparent reason. They might be skilful musicians BUT that doesn’t mean they can chop and blend riffs in order to sound technical just for the fun of it. This demo shows a band with lot of potentials at hand BUT they must work hard in order to craft memorable compositions. Looking forward to listen more stuff from them.
