After several years of absence, ABIGOR return with an album that show us a quite different face of them. It's obvious: their influences from the recent stuff of MAYHEM. From it's beginning, and in specific in Project: Shadow we see the riffology of Blasphemer. We also notice some riffs from DODHEIMSGARD, SATYRICON and of course the deepest influence of all those above, VOIVOD. The problem is not their new face (you can easily understand that you are hearing an ABIGOR album) but the whole atonia and dead-of-emotions music. Riffs come apathetic across my ears and the production (including the structure of the songs) send out a nothingness of soul-vibrations that are essential for a black metal recording. Everything here is so empty as the interstellar vacuum. Only Project: Shadow and the introduction of Lair Of Infinite Desperation are good. It's a well worked album (especially on guitars) but sure there are much better things outside. If you want something from the most famous black metal band from Austria I would suggest to start with some of their first four albums. At least it wasn't exasperating.
