Accidental Suicide - Dead Erotica

Accidental Suicide
Dead Erotica
by "Der Bärtige Mann" Gareth Beams at 20 January 2018, 2:23 PM

The Milwaukee Monsters release their first album in 15 years, including 4 songs from the previously unreleased “Erotic Dead” E.P. Chris told me they just went separate after High School which was why they didn’t release the E.P.. They just sat on it for 20 years. He went on to say that Bill and Ed did a show with (Bill’s other band) Viogression a couple of months ago, but he has a few things to work on before he gets into it again. So, the future may hold some new work from the band, we shall see.

Evil Fate (Fuck the Dead)” has the speed metal factor mixed with old school death metal, a key combination during the movement in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Its resolute and pulsating throughout. The tempo is solid and ticks over nicely. The speed is mixed well with the distorted vocals.  There is also a Doom feel to the rhythm to start, it doesn’t last long but it is an interesting process.“The Life I Hate” has an almost juvenile beat to start, before the deathgrowls begin, the slow Death Metal rhythm begins to creep through. There are some technical solos in here, a great technique that the lads form Obituary would be proud of. Thrash tendencies are seeping through here, but it works well against the dingy feel from the dark vocals. Neither vocals, nor instruments overpower one another here. It’s a decent dark blend.

Piss” begins with an instrumental intro beaming with ambience, its passive and unlike the other sounds from the band. The passiveness soon wears off as Ed throws out a few lung-bursting deathgrowls, holding them well, allowing the rest of the band to pick up pace and rejoin him at the darkened speed metal sound. The structure of the melody has passed other songs, it progresses well throughout and has the sort of feel to it similar to more Modern Death Metal tracks, but still with the Black/Old School Death Metal deathgrowls.
