Editor’s advisory: If you have no sense of humor and you are someone that mistakes “
seriousness” with “
pretending to be serious”, please do not read this review!
ACID DRINKERS, this crazy quartet from Poland, are not new in the music industry. On the contrary, they were born in 1986 with fourteen full length albums, including their latest
“Fishdick Zwei: The Dick Is Rising Again”, some EP’s DVD’s etc. They too, as most of the bands, had some lineup changes, but their craziness never abandoned them. So now sixteen years after
“Fishdick” it is time for their second album with covers.
As you probably saw from the track list, the songs that they cover are not only from the Metal scene. And those that are chosen, like for example
“Seasons In The Abyss” have nothing to do with the original. It needs guts to play this song in a country rhythm, with a banjo and a silly accent. Or
“Nothing Else Matters” in a carnival way, reminding me of
TIGER LILLIES. Thrash, Rock, cabaret, jazz, blues, country… You can find almost anything is this crazy album, excluding anything that has to do with electro bullshit. The funniest moments are the cover in
SLAYER,
METALLICA and
IRON MAIDEN. The ones that I liked the most musically were
“Hit The Road Jack”,
“New York, New York”,
“Bring It On Home” and
“Nothing Else Matters”.
As I wrote at the beginning of this review, this album is mostly to have fun. If you have a sense of humor then go and buy this album. If you don’t again buy this album just to find out what humor is.
PS: The rating should have been in laughs and smiles, but since we don’t have something like that…
