Against Decay - Entrance To Subconscious Award winner

Against Decay
Entrance To Subconscious
by David "Capt. Fury" Garlow at 18 February 2014, 1:35 AM

Hailing from Ankara, Turkey and ranked #2 there on ReverbNation for Metal / Melodic Metal / Heavy Metal; the group named AGAINST DECAY has all the making of a band that belongs on the world stage.

A big, wide sound as a whole with sweeping changes and melodic riffs along with the clean yet Metal vocal styling that only a female can give you; I listened to their three song EP and was left wanting more.

“Entrance To Subconscious” softly fills in the speakers and builds to an awaiting crescendo of sound, melodies abound with the full force of the band sans any vocals. My only thought is that it should move cleanly into something more, it has the makings of a song on it’s own but I get the intro thing. “Between Dreams & Nightmnares” starts of with some nice acoustic pick work and is immediately ignited with fervent guitar riffs and the bands full power is on display. The beauty of vocalist Özge Nemutlu’s voice is on display and it is quickly evident that the band is destined for big things if this is what their own songs sound like. Amazing work by some amazing musicians and a beautiful voice from a beautiful lady.

“True Lies” has a much more aggressive vibe to it from the guitars, but with the vocals of Özge yet again being the blue, the band has again displayed some serious talent. This is the kind of music I normally expect from European areas like Norway or Sweden, but this Turkish outfit has placed a claim as perhaps the next great melodic, symphonic band.
