AIRLESS, originating from Spain, have already released 3 albums to date. The band formed in 2002 and soon after releasing their debut album they achieved a worldwide publicity. Throughout their ongoing career they shared stages with icons such as TYKETTO, DARE, RIOT, VEGA and others. The recording of the new album began during 2009 and 2010 and was finally finished in the last stages of 2012.
The album delivers melodic AOR style mixed with traces of Hard Rock following the vein of CASANOVA, FRONTLINE and DARE yet only with magnificent shred guitar work by Robert Rodrigo and with keyboard parts that backed up the whole album, providing a rich atmosphere with awesome melodies. The entire tracklist of the album is very good but there are some rare diamonds like: "I Don't Care", where the keyboards take center place, especially on the chorus. "Dead Inside", which has a dramatic chorus with little bit blue atmosphere that changes within the verses that seem to have more balls and energy than the melodic chorus.
"Till The End Of Time" is another great song that has AOR roots with melodic anthem oriented chorus. The guitar work shed light in the verses, beside the amazing chorus. On the other hand there were several songs that shared a bit more Hard Rock direction that left huge impression on me. "Upstream", with a smooth vocal line and rough guitars, shows some rocking motives with lots of energy than the AOR examples that on the album. "Changes" is yet another Hard Rocker with a joint venture with Danny Vaughn on vocals along with Inaki Lazcano. "Rescue Me" is a powerful song with a bombastic opening; the keyboards add other fine aspects to the song. "Gone Too Far" and "Latest Prophecy" are the heaviest songs around. For a moment there it looked like AIRLESS moved to the Metal front, but they did with a whole load of passion and melodic lines.
The album is very magnetic, captivating melodies; Iñaki Lazkano's voice shares a wide range. The shredding guitar is not typical to AOR band; I think that the last time that I listened to a shred guitar in such a style, was fom the British AOR band SHY. The album represents high class musicians and songs, which will be very easy to get addicted to, with chorus like anthems and powerful melodies that will stick for a long time.
