Alea Jacta - Tales of Void and Dependence

Alea Jacta
Tales of Void and Dependence
by Craig Rider at 16 February 2018, 6:58 AM

Metal maniacs, rejoice! I’m proud to present to you: ALEA JACTA; signed via Art Gates Records, hailing from Spanish grounds - performing Thrash Metal/Hardcore, on their debut full-length album entitled: “Tales Of Void And Dependence” (released November 24th, 2017).

Since formation in 1994; the quintet in question have 2 Demos, a Split, 2 EPs and a single. Fast forward to 2017; the quartet finally release a full-length album: “Tales Of Void And Dependence”. 13 tracks ranging at around 47:30; ALEA JACTA incorporate a hard-hitting arrangement of Thrash Metal/Hardcore intricacies that are developed with a savagely sinister design of menacing chaotic mayhem, the cryptic .20s long “Prologue” begins the record which advances to the first track: “Sense Of Loss” - which immediately catches me by surprise with its solid slab of progressively aggressive technicalities, having an organic aesthetic of fluid substances and distinguished characteristics that captivate and motivate me ultimately.

Consisting of vocalist Eduardo Vera "ED play", the frontman consistently contrasts with a heavy formula of complex vocalization adroitness. “Anastrophe” showcases deep, guttural growling which has a unique amalgamation of the 2 sub-genres converged with unprecedented yet detailed results. Powerhouse bassist Juan A. Suarez "krusty" shows off his rapidly swift nimbleness in the next track: “The Others In Us”, balancing a bouncy yet rhythmic distinction that is energetically relentless. The songwriting proficiencies in “Insight” provide elegant composing attributions from pulverizing drummer Juan Carlos Alfonso, who excels with exquisite sound production enlightenments especially in “Swimming With A Lead Lifejacket”.

Dexterous duo Javier Arribas & Alejandro Montelongo efficiently supply a grandiose manifestation of prominently executed riffs and solos, “Praying For…(Prelude)” & “Your Presence” contributes a blisteringly hammering array of catchy yet groovy melodies that has a battering efficaiciousness to it that it utmost selubrious and stimulating. “Searching For A New Self” & “Your Son” distributes a concrete establishment of harmonic yet thunderous stability, which has a crunchy fulfilment of thumpy instrumentation & musicianship that is primitively exhilarating. “The Loop” & “Interdependence” demonstrated a sufficient amount of diligent craftsmanship, which had me enjoying a brilliantly creative experience.

Overall concluding with “Hypsteria”; I am compelled to say that ALEA JACTA delivered a crushing debut record, and certainly outdone themselves with this one – “Tales Of Void And Dependence” is a must-listen.
