Allerjen - No Guts, No Glory (CD)

No Guts, No Glory
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 26 April 2008, 12:18 PM

I am really sorry to say something like this but this album made a really bad impression on me from the very first time I put my eyes on it. The whole work is totally amateur. The logo is nothing amazing and the cover artwork is like they took a robot that never made it to the Transformers. The bad thing is that my disappointment continued when I listened to the album.

The Manchester based metallers began their career in 1999 as SPHERE, but changed their name into ALLERJEN in 2002. They have managed to support bands like ENTOMBED, SEPULTURA, RAGING SPEEDHORN and EVILE, but they have done nothing more in ALLERJEN's six years of existence. As they say, they signed a contract with a large American label, but their album was never released. Since they managed to sign with Psychophonic Records, they released their debut album No Guts, No Glory.

ALLERJEN try to play something like modern Thrash Metal, but as I said in the start of this review the whole work is totally amateur. Except from the logo and the cover artwork, the sound quality is only for demo level bands and the guitar work is not only mediocre, but definitely uninspired. There was not even one moment where the band could make me notice its music without being distracted by something else. ALLERJEN tried to mix Thrash Metal with some more modern Core elements (call me PRO-PAIN), but I don't think that they succeeded.

If this album took 6 whole years for the band to write it and record it, then I think they should spend many more years to improve. One more friendly advice, next time get a better producer mates!
