Ancient - Proxima Centauri (CD)

Ancient
Proxima Centauri
by Manolis Moundrianakis at 25 October 2001, 12:33 AM

Ancient is a band that doesn't need introductions since they've been around for quite awhile and now their latest work is released Proxima Centauri an album that continuous Ancient's tradition in their music and their previous albums.
As I said above Proxima Centauri  is an album that manages to maintain the style of music that Ancient played in their previous albums with some minor exceptions. This is something hard to find nowadays since many bands tend to experiment on their sound and very often as an outcome  they come up with a completely different style of music, which disappoints their fans.
As in their previous albums, Ancient maintain their vampirism touch in their thematology, which seems to be their favorite subject (who knows they even might be blood sucking creatures, I am too that's why I spent three years in a psychological institution, just kidding of course :) ). Their music remains wicked as ever with out loosing any touch of atmosphere that made Ancient the band they are today. The awesome female vocals of miss Deadly Kristin are perfectly combined with the vocals of the head daemon Aphazel giving a more paranormal feeling (not the x-files like). But still I can't figure out what is missing out of this album.
A very good production accompanies Proxima Centauri though in some parts we get the normal panic of sounds, you know the part were you stop and think What the fuck am I listening here!!! but in other words the production rules.
So those of you people who liked the previous Ancient albums you will also like this one as well those of you who didn't, what can I say, try it out?
