Anticosm – The Call of the Void Award winner

The Call of the Void
by Jorge Zamudio at 08 August 2019, 12:47 PM

This review was my first exposure with ANTICOSOM. I can with complete confidence say that bands such as this, are the result of an evolution in the metal world. I don't say this because this is something new and unique. Instead, it's because bands such as ANTICOSM show us just how far Metal music has come. As far as ANTICOSM, this band is ruthless.

With "The Call of the Void" the band have tried to present some music that you may find reminiscent of North America Black Thrash Metal from the early nineties. It’s similar to that early music but only with an increase of energy, more power and a better production. This release was special, because along with the aforementioned power, comes things like serene and calm passages, and this gives a good contrast to the songs. It's becomes an unique  approach between thrash and black.

ANTICOSOM emphasis is predominantly based in metal obviously, but they have also creatively created space for acoustic passages, that can be found in all the right places in each song they  on this release. This makes a distinct impact that gives you something to ponder about this band. I think this album is special, even in these days full of special bands.

It’s a mixture of intensity and calmness. They create the perfect balance to give you something that sounds so good, I would suggest that ANTICOSOM is in the league of bands like NOVEMBER'S DOOM (guarding proportions), and that’s a lot to say. I can't help but think of seeing these tracks played live, and I would add that seeing them live you wouldn't have a moment's opportunity to rest. These songs are simply just amazing compositions, complex but pleasing to the listener. I just really don't see many bands this special these days.

I can't compare this release to any previous albums from ANTICOSM as this was my first exposure to them. I can say that this band have become one of my favorites, and I assure you, that if you give them a chance, they will become your favorites too, so enjoy.
