Anvil - Hope In Hell

Anvil
Hope In Hell
by YngwieViking at 02 May 2013, 2:05 PM

I was a little puzzled for my ANVIL review, in fact I'm still disturbed to the extreme by “Hope In Hell”, it disappointed me very much and I was caught in an emotional rollercoaster, searching desperately for a positive angle to write smartly about it, so I tried to figure it out, and I have decided to take the risk to confused everyone in the same way. Working the same rhetoric pattern used by ANVIL since their early albums to reflect my turmoil and my somewhat paradoxical and contradictory feelings, here is my early vision filled with Oxymoron, Antithesis and Pleonasms:

Failure and fiasco / obvious perhaps ordinary / regular or retarded / unadventurous thus uninteresting / laxest wherever lacklustre / greatness is gone /pity well produced / tame maybe tacky / empty while exhausting / injurious to intelligence / just a joke / humdrum yet heavy / could be correct / finally is flat / boring, yes bland / superficial even shallow / perplexed in prime / baffled at best / disappointing still devoted / avoid this affair / next time neglected…Sorry.

As it seems that Lips and Robb Reiner are running low of new concepts (tracks as “Shut the Fuck Up” or “Eat your Words” are really characteristic of that lyrical poverty) and they also had to struggled with some tarnished songwriting's capacities, if they keep that cheap formula, they can borrow some ideas for the title able to fit perfectly for a new ANVIL CD in 2014, hope it helps.
