Arallu - Six Award winner

Arallu
Six
by Marcos "Big Daddy" Garcia at 11 November 2017, 2:59 PM

When I say that we must always attain our efforts in bringing something new and fresh when we are dealing with music, it’s a matter of personality. When bands are copying something that was already done, I really ask “is this what you have inside you?”, because to play music is to expose what you have inside your soul. But there are moments when we face astonishing works. And the Israeli band ARALLU is really amazing, as “Six”, their new album, is here to show.

This quintet fuses Black Metal with regional rhythms and musical elements that aren’t common on Metal. They are more eclectic than MELECHESH, and plays Black Metal in a way that can reminds many of ORPHANED LAND, but with a more raw and aggressive insight. And yes, they are truly creative, building harmonic complex structures and grandiose moments. They are truly great! The sound production of “Six” was focused in a way that they could sound harsh and aggressive, but with an insight that they need to be understood by their fans. So we can say that they found what they were looking for, because the aggressiveness is here, but in a clear form.

To some fans, “Six” will sound weird ate the first time, but on the second listening, you’ll be hooked on their work. Although all the songs are really amazing, as their finest shots we can point to the Oriental influence that permeates the brutality of “Only One Truth” (what great guitars), the percussions and great work from bass guitar and drums shown on “Adonay”, the excellent aggressive insight and excellent shrieked vocals on “Subordinate of the Devil” (with a very good work from the rhythmic session once more), the bitter and Oriental scent of “The Universe Secrets (Six)”, the fine mix of technical insight and aggressiveness shown on “Victims of Despair”, and the enigmatic melodic lines of “Soulless Soldier”. But have in mind: these are mere references, because they are amazing!

Israel is really a great country for Metal, and ARALLU is a great name in the extreme scene.
