Ashura - Mindhood

by Matt Johnson at 19 August 2014, 11:50 AM

When you think of Thrash Metal, what crosses your mind? Some people might say beer, politics, moshing, or patched-up denim and camouflage vests. One of the trademarks of this genre are albums with ten or more songs on them, while only spanning 20 minutes for the whole album. You won't find much of that on ASHURA's debut. This band provides quality riffs and a heavy, yet progressive sound that entices the listener to wait for what the next second of audio will bring. Their traditional Thrash Metal vocals won't revolutionize anything, but it does bring together the classic sound from the rest of the instrumentation. And might I add, the drummer is very reliable and able and does not break time.

With an album cover reminiscent of SODOM and song titles that fit the aggression heard throughout the album, it doesn't take much imagination to figure out that you're in for some serious headbanging.  Turns out that there are plenty of South American bands with major potential and a few that have seen plenty of international success, and ASHURA is in good company. This is a band to watch, so as time goes on, the world will be witness to some fantastic Thrash Metal, courtesy of these guys.
