ASIA is a legendary Hard Rock band from England formed in 1981. They have released unique live album
“High Voltage” on August 22nd in Europe and August 26th in North America, recorded on the 24th July 2010 at the inaugural High Voltage Festival in Victoria Park, London.
ASIA live CD / DVD captures the band, in the original line-up (featuring
Steve Howe on guitar), performing classic material from the 80’s from their debut self-titled 1982 album and added 2 songs -
“An Extraordinary Life” and
“I Believe” which in their studio forms are on album
“Phoenix” (2008) and
“Omega” (2010).
Most know hits of
ASIA like
"Only time will tell” has nice keys, melodic inside, AOR rhythmic section and great key solos. My favourite track of this British legend is another hit
“Heat of the moment” and I like to hear it on this album. For me this is amazing to listen in the live version, where stronger riffs sounds nice with keys and great solo performances. Also hearing singing together by band refrain with fans is brilliant! In
“Time again” is nice opening with strong guitars and drums, Hammond organs and this track is more energetic Hard Rock.
Calmer sounds in
“An Extraordinary Life” are nice with a catchy chorus and also memorable sounds are in
“I Believe”. Applause of public is audible in
“Sole Survivor” with catchy sounds, and the energetic
“Here Comes the Feeling” wherein melodic refrain choir singing is featured too, as well as a drum solo. Chill sounds in
“One Step Closer” and fine energetic riffs, working bass and gentle piano in
“Cutting it Fine” showing that band playing on this concerts their older and well known songs.
Generally the album isn't the best recording of
ASIA live on stage. Sometimes the band's power is simply not felt. I think that the vocals are too loud, much louder than other instruments. However, I still believe this album will be great surprise to true
ASIA fan who can't wait to another album of band. Also it is nice to hearing band from stage by someone who never able to attend one of their concerts.
