Astorian Stigmata - Bones And Memories

Astorian Stigmata
Bones And Memories
by Sebastien “Bass” Parent at 22 November 2015, 7:32 PM

Hello Temple, I’m back today to bring you this new album from ASTORIAN STIGMATA. This band from Pennsylvania, USA has released their new album “Bones and Memories”. This is their 7th album since their debut in 2005 as a recording project for Dennis Condusta. Dennis decided to form the full live band in 2009 after the release of “Existential Suicide”. So this is essentially the 3rd album of the official band.

The band lists THE CURE, MODEST MOUSE and H.I.M as their music influence. This is definitely what I hear on this album. A mix of Gothic Rock and discordant sounds, that really makes the style of this album very peculiar. I love the ambiance and the melody of the music; it really blends well with the high pitch voice of Dennis. But I have one major negative that ruined my overall feeling; the way his voice vibrates throughout all the songs. It really bothered me from start to end of the album. It really is the main reason I only give 6 out of 10 to this album, I just couldn’t get past it.

Everything else about this album is very well done, the guitars, bass and drums are very well in sync. The melody is well researched and really gives a nice feeling. If only Dennis voice would vibrate a bit less on the songs, I would have definitely have been in love with this album. Maybe it was an aesthetic choice, but one that fell flat in my ears.

Although I don’t want to discourage you from trying it out. The video down below is well done and gives you a good idea of the rest of the album. Hopefully, the shaky voice doesn’t bother you as much as it did with me. On a funny note, anyone else feels like Dennis Condusta looks like Neil Patrick Harris with dreads? I totally love the look.
