AUDIOTOPSY is a great name and they have the image and character to suit it.
This outfit plays American hard rock southern style and do a pretty damn good job as well.
Greg Tibbett and
Matt McDonough are both veterans’ of the scene especially with the fact that they are both previously of
MUDVAYNE, so fans of bands like
HELL YEAH and
TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION will thoroughly enjoy this release. It’s not a huge departure from what they had done in their previous band which highlights how much of an integral part of that machine that they were. It still has plenty of points of difference so that it’s not just a diluted version of
MUDVAYNE.
Right from the offset this album has a great pace.
“Headshot” is a cracker of a track and sets the rollercoaster in motion.
“Headshot” and
“The Calling” have been released as singles and have been getting some attention and airplay. Just to mix things up in the middle they have a little track called
“H2O (Interlude)” which sets the tone for the next track
“Swim” which was one of the songs that I personally liked a lot.
“Burn the Sky” is a great song and has the head and feet tapping along nicely.
“Distorted” has to be the track that stands out to me and is the heaviest on the track as you would expect from the title.
“Frozen Scars” would be the slowest track on the album but it’s a real churner and there’s no lacking in heaviness.
This is a strong heavy hard rock album that grows on you very easy. I really like this album as theirs no let up and it just rocks out taking no prisoners. This is a band to keep an eye on if you are of a fan of the southern hard rock as I’m sure they are going to be around for a long time if this debut is anything to go by.
