Axe Crazy - Angry Machines

Axe Crazy
Angry Machines
by Marcos “Big Daddy” Garcia at 05 November 2014, 9:24 PM

Well, since long, the old way of making Metal music really catches many fans, and some bands trying to sound like the old days (especially the 80’s). Obviously some can have bad results, other ones can have better, and some are the finest. But to be on the last group, it needs to have something more to say than was said until now. And the Polish quintet AXE CRAZY still have a way to go, besides the EP “Angry Machines” is a good record.

It’s the old and good traditional way of playing Heavy Metal from the first half of the 80’s, like bands from some German bands, almost touching Power Metal. Obviously, they are a pretty good band, with great amounts of energy and they play their instruments in a hard and heavy way. But it sounds like many bands before, offering nothing new and nothing of their hearts. But Ol’ Big Daddy here can feel that these nephews have a latent personality, pulsing there, wanting to come out at any moment. It’s a matter of time.

Good sound quality (could be better, to be completely honest with you all), all instruments in their due places, good level of weight. In the middle of this all, a musical work that still lacks some personality to arise, but as Big Daddy said above: it’s just a matter of time and experience.

“Angry Machines”, “Hungry for Life”, “Sabretooth Tiger” and “Running Out of Time” are all good songs, catching and with good melodies, showing a good work on both guitars (remind some aspects of the first albums of SAXON and a bit of a rawer HELLOWEEN), heavy rhythmic kitchen and very good vocals (this guy really know how to use his voice), but the band still gives us that old feeling that says “I have heard this before” to evident.

Maybe more shows can help than to put their inner personality out, for now, they still seem many bands we know. Well, let’s wait and see.
