AXXION, four piece band, comes from Toronto, Canada, and sadly brings nothing new. Music and lyrics fit the Heavy Metal genre, and after a while you get the feeling that you have probably heard it all before.
There`s a lot of passion within this release. Ounces of energy just keep bursting from the beginning till the very end.
Dirty D Kerr, at the front of the vocals, is not very powerful, but she definitely knows how to hit high notes just right. On the other hand, there were a number of songs where I noticed that she did more than overusing the high pitching for my taste. I would single out
“Still Hungry” and
“Ride Of The Chariots” from this release as the direction that this band should aim at – mid pace tempo, but still filled with energy with a perfect usage of the singer’s voice pattern.
AXXION definitely has “that something”. but on this release it`s just not explored in full extent. There`s always a place for improvement, and they really should think about it for the future to come. Considering that
“Wild Ride” is their debut full-length release, one might expect further good results in the upcoming material.
