DESCEND TO ACHERON is an Australian Death Metal band that mix a little bit of Black Metal influences on its music. They have recently released their first EP "
The Transience of Flesh" and that is what we are going to talk about. The opening track from the EP is the title track "
The Transience of Flesh" which starts out with growling low vocals and then some high growling is added right before the instrumental chaos starts. It is a very heavy song and I believe that it shows how good they are. Even if I am not a fan of the genre, I am enjoyed it.
"
Plague of Superstition" starts out with nice guitar riffs and excellent bass lines that helped shape the ambiance. It is technical, aggressive, and creative. There are a few parts where the song changes it is dynamic and a speech can be heard while clean guitars creates a dark and tense atmosphere, that would totally fit on a horror movie. I liked the guitar solo here and I believe that they should do it more.
"
The Godless Part I" is the first piece of the sequence and it starts direct, technical, and aggressive. There are a lot of good work coming from the instruments here, but I must say that the bass and drums are the highlights for this one. The guitar solo is different from the previous song and shows different influences from Peter's guitar style. "
The Godless Part II" starts different from its first piece and that gave a whole new dynamic to the sequence and the album itself. This song feels a little bit progressive and less direct and the drummer is just creating something hard for the fans to reproduce. That is a very good song and you will hear tons of shredding.
"
Your Suffering Is A Gift" starts out in a very heavy and direct way and I believe that it will be one of the favorite songs for the fans to hear it live. It has great dynamic, riffs that will creates chaos in the pit and a great vocal work. Nothing else to say here. "
From The Mouth of Wolves" is the last song from this album and it starts different from all the rest: clean guitar sound that slowly grows with the addition of distorted guitars that is supported by the great bass and drum structure. There were a few parts here that reminded me of Black Metal and sounded like that, so it was cool.
DESCEND TO ACHERON have written and released a great EP and I believe that they did a great start on their career releasing such a quality material like that. You guys deserve the best.
