Bad Habit - Hear-Say (CD)

Bad Habit
Hear-Say
by Chiara Pellegrini at 04 January 2006, 10:14 PM

Another pleasant release from Frontiers Records by the end of 2005. The band started back in 1986, formed by guitar player Hal Marabel and Doc Shannon, they've only released three albums since their debut, the last one being Adult Orientation (1998).
After seven years they return with their new CD titled  Hear-Say. Main influences of Hear-Say come from bands like Journey, Toto, Van Halen and Boston. Songs like To Love You, I Swear, All That I Want, Reason and Tell Me Why are really melodic and well mixed. This album contains all kinds of songs : power ballads, some mid tempo songs, and a few really rockers , but if I had to place Hear-Say in a specific genre, I would define it for sure as AOR. Especially the singer's vocals, Bax Fehling, he's got a really supreme voice, perfect for the AOR style. There are some pretty guitar solos on this CD; in particular the solo in the lead track To Love You and also I Swear; quite technical and enjoyable to hear.
Twelve songs, thirteen for the Japanese version (Here I Am Bonus Track), with a fresh sound and a good, modern production, a nice gift for all the AOR/Melodic Rock lovers out there.
