Superb Black Metal antichrists Barathrum present us here their eighth unholy release - and their fifth one through Spinefarm! They started under the name of Darkfeast in 1990 but soon enough paved their way through the unholy paths of Black Metal inferno! They seem to be enjoying what they do and exhibit many elements of true unholiness and Black Metal witchery! Many mid tempo rhythms or supersonic speeds combined with extreme vocal lines all dipped in anti-Christ, anti-religion attitude in general, covered in a black spider woven veil compose their musical proposition. If you wanna find some of their influences then you must seek them among the following names: Venom, Sepultura, Celtic Frost, Samael and Rotting Christ amongst others. Of course the lyrics aren't taken from the bible as anyone would easily notice! It's true that the vocals or the production could have been better at certain points but on the whole this will not lessen Baratrum's effort! There is a whole blasphemous attitude spread all over here - the riffs are quite decent and there are many good groovy moments here and there! You cannot really say that overall it's something extremely unique but the final result is good enough for the average Black Metal ears and brains! Also noticeable are the Christian-friendly titles on some of the songs such as: Antikristus Neutronstar, Mother of Christ, Crucifix Masturbation, Nailday. Highlights of this album can be considered - among others - the following tracks: Corpse Desecration, Angelraper, G.I.D., Mother of Christ, Crucifix Masturbation, Nailday, Anno Aspera. If you are into unholy Black Metal then definitely Barathrum is your band! Invest your time and soul into listening to their music and prince Lucifer will pay you back on the day of endless doom!
