I’ll be honest; I don’t believe I have ever heard a Rock N' Roll band out of Finland. So I really had no idea what to expect when I gave "Breaking All The Rules" a listen, and yeah, I was impressed. And thirsty…but I’ll grab that much deserved beer in just a minute, back to the review…
I’m not a big Rock fan, but the ladies did an awesome job with this one. Raw vocals, catchy lines, and just on the whole, a well recorded album. Not your average cookie cutter, auto tuned, hot mess that will fade out in the next few months. The lyrics are fun and on the edge of cheesy, but ones that will stick in your head for hours after the music has ended. The guitar work is grungy and solid, with some bluesy touches. Granted no blistering solos, but great nonetheless. The bass work doesn’t really complement the drums, and tends to follow the guitars, which puts it, at times, at odds with the rest of the song. Niina’s drums are a real piece of work, Rock N' Roll to the core. Some of the standout tracks are "Breaking All the Rules", "One More And I’ll Be Gone", and "Due Time". One could almost call this a great “blue collar working class” hitting the bar on a Friday night kind of album. Thanks ladies, this was fun! For a rating, I’d say 8 out of 10. As always, stay well, and live free my friends! Cheers!
