Battalion - Winter Campaign (CD)

Winter Campaign
by Panagiotis Koutsompogeras at 08 July 2007, 10:43 PM

…Phew, and for a moment I thought that I would not find something descent for my Valentine's day background music! BATTALION is the final answer for those who seek an old-school death metal atmosphere gilled with lyrics about war blood all raging in the underground field. In fact, these crazy Belgians play death metal in a very honest, direct and of course brutal way - that's for sure. This is their first full-length album; a disc full of war and pure hatred!
The band was put together at the end of 2001 and since then it launches its assault with might and brutal passion. The majority of the lyrics (which are mostly written by Ruben) mainly deal with war, alien warfare, war heads, war crap, war horror but mostly war shit - do you finally get the idea? I think that all of the band's members have side projects, but they manage to maintain their vision of BATTALION quite clear. If you like bands in the style of KRISIUN, BEHEMOTH, CANNIBAL CORPSE, BOLT THROWER, AUTOPSY, GRAVE, BENEDICTION, DEATH, DISMEMBER and - of course - the godfathers SLAYER, then these guys may also appeal to ya, since they have been influenced by those aforementioned bands.
So, if you are familiar with tough shit like the above bands, you listen to songs like Give Peace A Chance or so and get a brain gangrene, then definitely BATTALION is one of your next sonic choices. Needless to say that you must stay away if you have got stuck only in useless and narrow minded melody crap! As it is sound obvious, BATTALION is a band willing to take death metal back to the old days. They have no compromise - this means war! Just to let you know, the recordings have been done in the well-known CCR studios at the end of 2004.
BATTALION's death war machine is still growing, with the punchy drum blast beats and the whole solid cool war type attitude. Highlights of this album can be considered - amongst the other - the following ones: Nuclear Devastation, Winter Campaign, Skeleton City and Ghost Of War. So let's get this clear: SPORT THE WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
