BEFORE WE FALL is a Modern Metal band from Budapest, Hungary. They formed in 2019 and released their first EP, “
Doesn’t Seem Enough.” Now they’re back with “
Healed by Fear.” The album has three tracks and a theme of overcoming one’s darkest emotions which I think appeals to basically any Metalhead. We tend to be some dark people, don’t we? In a time when we’re all afraid and could use some healing, let’s dive on in.
First off I will admit that I wanted to criticize the vocals. But then I reminded myself that this is a Hungarian man singing in English and maybe I’m just a nitpicky nerd who has a problem with vocals in general. But just because I personally prefer instrumental music does not make
Róth Henrik a poor vocalist. He’s not bad at all. He manages to make his words clear without making his voice sound whiny. That’s an accomplishment and I commend him for it. I would really love to see him exercise his voice because with a bit more range and strength he could be a real powerhouse.
The opening and titular track, “
Healed by Fear,” is a beautiful song. Again, I’m not typically one for things like vocals or lyrics but this one got me right in the feels. Maybe it’s because you’re having a hard time right now but I think you might be crying a little. It’s okay, I did too. I won’t tell anyone. We’ll just hug and get on with this great music.
The last track, “
For the Fallen Ones” is amazing. I guarantee you will be turning up your volume and nodding your head with this one. These guys are some talented people and they definitely show it off in this track. I’m impressed by
Vadász József’s drumming. It’s energetic and fun. This one was definitely my favorite track.
Overall, I liked this album. Each track made me love the band even more and I think I might just keep this album in my personal library. It’s short but sweet and I look forward to hearing more from
BEFORE WE FALL in the near future.
