When I saw their name I knew their music, image and style right away. These modern bands have become so predictable it makes me sick! Anyway, BEFORE THERE WAS ROSALYN (and what comes after Rosalyn…?) are here to declare that they are not actually a band…
Yes, they are a ministry first, and a band second! As they say We live every day for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This is what we believe. Don't be afraid to talk to us about it. God Bless all of you, which really seems stupid dare I say. Even satanic black metallers don't make such statements! Anyway, that's something that luckily didn't affect my opinion on their music, since I try to keep these two separated.
BEFORE THERE WAS ROSALYN is nothing more than an average Metalcore band with a kind of emo oriented atmosphere. If they didn't belong to Victory Records they could surely be apart of Ferret's roster. Heavy guitars with some decent melodies, combination of brutal and clean vocals, catchy yet whiny choruses and to cut a long story short, BEFORE THERE WAS ROSALYN are not bad, but definitely not good. They are just one more band in Metalcore's pit of mediocrity.
That changes if you like bands like GWEN STACY etc. Then you will probably find something interesting in here. I listened to this album 2-3 times with some interest, but as time went by it became more and more boring. Let's see if they can work something out in the future…
