Some artists prefer to not be attached to one single musical genre, so they can create their music without compromises and/or bonds. It happens especially when the artist makes a work on his/her own, what means that the personal creative source comes from only one mind, and the final result is something particular. That’s precisely what’s heard on “I Hate to Say”, the album released by BEN SOLLBERGER PROJECT.

Ben is a Swiss musician and songwriter (from the city of Bern) who has being playing in bands for 28, who got the core idea of “I Hate to Say” from  the experience of hearing the diversity of music played by DJ’s on weekends. So the labels are useless to describe the hits from the past 50 years, so he sat down and composed this album without caring for any musical genre or something: his only compromise was with his heart, so elements from Hard Rock, AOR, Pop Rock and others will be heard clearly, but in a way that makes sense. Yes, the melodies are easy to be understood and assimilated, and everything is excellent. What are you waiting for to dive into this album?

“I Hate to Say” was mixed and mastered by Fabrizio Egger (www.glow-sound.ne), and his efforts resulted on a clean and defined sonority that allows the listeners to have full understanding of what’s being expressed by the songs. Yes, everything sound clean, balancing the volumes and effects in the right way.

All the 11 songs will give to the listeners a very good time, especially “Too Hot to Hold” (a mix between Hard Rock and Pop Rock influences, with excellent guitars arrangements, especially due the solos), “Whenever There is Love” (that shares the same elements from the previous song, but with a better work on the chorus and on the rhythmic session), “I Hate to Say” (a Pop Rock driven song, with very good clean chords parts that give an introspective sense on them), “Legends Never Really Die” (a homage to Eddie Van Halen, so this song is massive Hard Rock with many melodic hooks, especially during the chorus), “Information War” (with a massive melodic weight, it really is catchy in many parts), “Breaking Free” (that shows a massive Groove set of elements into a Pop appeal), and “Wish” (that presents a melodic and introspective appeal). But taste all songs, and you’ll not regret the experience.

After hearing “I Hate to Say”, the listeners will love this album. So let’s hope that BEN SOLLBERGER PROJECT will not stop on it.
