Benea Reach - Possession

Benea Reach
Possession
by Jorge "The Zarto" Zamudio at 08 April 2013, 3:01 PM

Well what can I say? This is something that’s not my style, definitely, but although that, I must recognize that these guys are really good, they have a lot of guts and a lot of talent, this release is a show that even when the “core” suffix is very hard to swallow, there are some things that you still must highlight here.

The rhythms used along the songs are pretty good, not falling into the mediocrity that “core” is used to, there are some good bass lines, and I say some, because not all the parts are in my taste, just because is not my favourite genre, not because they have bad lines, drums along the way making good impacts on the songs, and some keys and synthesizers that fits good on the songs.

The really low point here: the voice, I won’t enter in controversy with anyone, but this voice has no feeling to me, is just some screams filling the parts that are needed to with some words, that although are understandable, can barely help this guy to sing better, in some, very few moments, the strong is shown, but then again falls short to a voice almost drown in itself, just because they must think that is the way. (To screw things, if I may say).

I give these guys half of the whole qualification, and I repeat, not because they are bad, it is just not my genre, and of course for the singer, who has a good voice, and must use it in its whole potential. You are failing my friend, with some screams that may take down a lot of talent that the band has; and do it not for my taste, but for the sake of the good music.
