Bestial Mockery - Slaying The Life (CD)

Bestial Mockery
Slaying The Life
by Yiannis Doukas at 10 December 2007, 1:27 PM

For unknown reasons, despite the fact that I always had in the back of my head their name so as to buy something of BESTIAL MOCKERY (when they were in Osmose), this didn't ever happen. What a fool! What am I losing all this time? I think it's time to rectify my ears' Metal health.
This fourth album, Slaying The Life, has been released under the Season Of Mist 'roof' and here we have a band full of Thrash Metal influences. Do you want names? Well, SLAYER, SODOM, SARCOFAGO, SEXTRASH, POISON (Germany), VENOM, 'ancient' SEPULTURA, BULLDOZER and generally anything like 'decayed' evil Thrash Metal album you want. On the other hand, there are clear points from bands like BLASPHEMY, old IMPALED NAZARENE etc setting them to the 'Black' side. Something like a Thrash headbanger fucking a goat.
The three first songs are completely destructive. Slaughter Mass has a SODOM curse above it, Storm Of The Beast is a neck fucker while Antichrist Of War has a rage and violence like unleashing a storm of South America's bands with a refrain straight from hell.
After these three dynamites comes Black Spell Of Armageddon, which is traveling through Black Metal railings with Thrash substratum and - despite the fact that it's not bad - I cannot say that it 100% satisfied me. In the same level also is Scream For War, with a killer basic riff and unfortunately a mediocre refrain and pre-chorus that limit the metallic lust of the listener.
In Deathsong', Infantry Storm and Funeral Pyre the holocaust is continuing with non-stop steps. War Summoning looks like an entry for the next one and reminded me PROFANATICA's poems! One goodie is also Apocalypse Prayer, with tons of Thrash filthiness, making me melting with air-guitar playing and headbanging. Same words I have to say for Metal Fucking Death, which includes a quite nice solo.
Generally speaking, the album is good with a nice sound in all instrumentation (with a special note in the drums that are fucking fine). The other sure thing is that BESTIAL MOCKERY are not re-discovering America and I guess that is something that they don't want to do with their music. The point here is to play with lifted dicks, passion and Metal anger; credits that exist in this album. Definitely, I have heard better stuff in this style but there are some great songs inside. I liked it, you decide…
