Between the Buried and Me - The Parallax II: Future Sequence Award winner

Between the Buried and Me
The Parallax II: Future Sequence
by Dory Khawand at 04 October 2012, 3:38 PM

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME shot towards unexplored horizons with their previous release “The Parallax: Hypersleep Dialogues”, and now they continue to explore and discover, yielding amazing results with their latest album “The Parallax II: Future Sequence”. It’s fast, experimental, and it took me into a world I’ve been dreaming of exploring ever since I turned 18. This release is fucking great, and I’ll tell you why after this period.

The album starts off dramatically with the intro “Goodbye To Everything”, setting you in a very mystique and unique mood, like someone teleporting you into an inspired internal world, getting you ready for what’s to come. The Progressive Metal madness starts with “Astral Body” where the band shows professional musicianship with their use of perfect harmony and mixture of techniques to add great taste to the track.

The album basically continues to flow like an unstable chart, getting heavy, dangerous, calm, and very emotional, conveying a great mixture of everything great the band recorded prior to this album. Some moments leave you stunned and surprised at how brilliant the band manages to sound, and other moments leave you banging your head moving with the flow like a headbanger on acid. Standout tracks to me are the amazingly emotional “Melting City” and the best track on the album “Telos”.

BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME have outdone themselves on this release, the community will be shocked and stand in awe to these amazing musicians. You won’t understand unless you listen to this album, it’s worth every second, and it has something for everyone in it. Definitely one of the best releases this year.
