BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME is a name I have surely heard of, but never had the chance to listen to the band's music. Even though I had the impression that it was a Metalcore band, I realized that they have almost nothing to do with the specific genre. Let's see what surprises their new album hides for you…
The USA based quintet is definitely a weird case since their music incorporates many different elements, something that makes them interesting - if not good - for sure. Let me start by saying that my ears are on the edge of bleeding from the many listening sessions, since The Great Misdirect is a pretty difficult album for the average listener. BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME have somehow managed to mix Progressive Rock with Avant Garde fragments with brutal patterns that carry some Thrash Metal and Metalcore influences. Imagine something like GENESIS, MR. BUNGLE, CYNIC, SLAYER and THE RED CHORD, as well as a lot of drugs, hahaha!
The length of each song is kind of huge since we are talking about over 10-minute tracks, except for 2-3. I have to admit that I wasn't amazed by their music, even though the guys are incredible and skilled musicians, but it seems that their music will surely sound attractive to people who are looking for something different. Check them out!
