This band is about the old fairy tales and myth. A journey to the world of forgotten dreams, wolves, ghosts, dwarfs, mermaids, trolls, elves, vampires & giants. This album is the band’s debut EP and contains five tracks. “Der Herr der Berge” leads off the album. It opens in the middle of heavy rain, with thuds of some sort in the background. In comes the heavy Black Metal sound, with vocal chants amidst the harsh lead vocals and powerful drumming. The guitars are layered and provide a nice melancholy melody. The guitars fade, and it’s back to the thuds and heavy rain.

“Der Bote” is both shorter and more intense, raging from the opening notes. Those light chants are back as well. The guitars are thick with their anger. It slows after the half-way mark, and come clean guitars bring the sadness along with the rage. The screams are absolutely hateful. “Die Greisin” begins with tense clean guitars and more of those chants. It’s seven-minute track, so it takes some time to develop in the beginning. From there it is a slow groove, with some eerie sounds that I can’t tell what they are. The guitars venture out a bit, bringing some melody with the raging vocals. Bass guitar notes can also be heard here. There is a monumental quality to the song that flows throughout. As it fades out, more of those eerie sounds come back.

“Sagenwelt” opens with more chanting, and vile vocals. Some bells ring in the background, and the sadness is dialed up a notch. While the vocals hold steady, some lead guitars bring melody out. It ends with piano notes “Seid Wilkommen” closes the album…a short one-minute closer. Chants are the main element to this song, along with thuds in the background. Overall, this was a strong debut album for the German band. But it did get a little repetitive every now and again. I liked the sound…ominous and raging at the same time, and I liked the level of melody that they brought out as well. For their next venture, a little more diversity would go a long way.
