Black Blitz - Louder Than Thunder

Black Blitz
Louder Than Thunder
by Joe Paciolla at 06 May 2014, 10:49 AM

Although based in Munich, Germany, a few listens to the new disc, “Louder Than Thunder” by BLACK BLITZ would lead me to believe this trio have listened to a lot of music coming out of Australia. AC/DC appears to be the primary influence, but I also hear just as much classic ROSE TATTOO.  Formed in 2009 with one other album to their credit (2011’s “Born To Rock”), these guys are hard-working have been building quite a following throughout Europe, as they recently played a 6 gig mini-tour supporting German legend, U.D.O. and have some festival appearance lined up over the next couple months.

Vocalist Thomas Bauer shares a lot of similarities with Angry Anderson and to my ears, he has more singing ability, which leads to some very catchy choruses. The musicality and tightness of all three guys is quite impressive too! The lyrics are generally standard Rock N' Roll styled, but they fit the groove of the music. Some of my favorites on here include “Drinking Dynamite”, “Keep 'Em Coming” and “Double The Trouble”.

I’ve been a fan of AC/DC and ROSE TATTOO since the days of being an impressionable middle-schooler, and feel that a few modern day influences have added some much needed fire to the writing, which has been sorely missing in the originator’s music for many years.  BLACK BLITZ have created some very good music this time around and I expect their next CD that will be the one they are remembered for – I am already looking forward to it.
