Blind Revolution - Money, Love, Light Award winner

Blind Revolution
Money, Love, Light
by "Metal Mark" Garcia at 24 January 2020, 7:47 AM

The golden age of AOR (that can be called as Melodic Classic Rock, or even Melodic Hard Rock for others) has gone since the coming of Grunge/Alternative Rock commercial success on USA in the earlier years of the 90’s. But as no Rock ‘n’ Roll genre (and Metal) really dies, the genre is again a commercial success, but on Europe this time. And from Italy comes BLIND REVOLUTION, a quarter with a very good work, as shown on “Money, Love, Light”.

Their musical work can remind features from AOR on the 80’s, especially from bands as JOURNEY and BON JOVI and some Hard Rock touches from bands as VAN HALEN (during Sammy Hagar age). It means that they show strength and even musical weight in the middle of their easy hooking melodies and charming choruses. Of course that their instrumental work is really very good, but their main focus are the accessible melodies. The sound quality is really good, because it sounds modern and allows the band’s energy to flow from the speakers. It is clean and dry, but a bit drier than the needed, so it’s not perfect. But is almost there!

“Guiding Light” with its charming melodies and chorus (very good work from bass guitar and drums, and some keyboards are giving the right accessible touch), the strong commercial hooks from “Miracle” (the vocals are good, but can improve more in the future), the abrasive weighty parts of “Knocking for Love” (excellent guitars, indeed), the modern and melodic ambiance of “Saints of Our Days” and “Money and Run”, the melancholic hooks of “Take the Magic Back” (a Blues/Country touch inherited from Hard Rock is clear to the ears), and the savage “Getting Stronger” can be said as the album’s finest moments.

As mentioned above, BLIND REVOLUTION has a way to go and can mature a bit more to be on the right path, but for now, “Money, Love, Light” is a very good release that deserves to be heard and enjoyed at its fullest!
