Bliss of Flesh - Tyrant Award winner

Bliss of Flesh
Tyrant

To speak about any Metal genre the readers can think of, one must considerate the differences between national schools. North American Thrash Metal isn’t like German one; Swedish Death Metal is light years of distance of what North American bands show. These are mere examples, but any Metal genre differs from country to country. And to speak about the French quintet BLISS OF FLESH’s work, it’s necessary to understand this concept before listening “Tyrant”, their latest album.

It’s because their music is a form of Death/Black Metal. These words can cause wrong ideas, because one would think of old formulas from the past or what is done by Polish bands. And their music is different, a personal way of playing Death Metal with some nasty melodies and very good traces from modern Black Metal. So it’s aggressive and brutal, their music impacts the listeners, but is aesthetically refined, in a way that doesn’t fit on other models. And it’s truly very good!

The sound quality was conceived to be brutal and aggressive, to have that impact that many like to feel on Death/Black Metal. But the producer took care to keep the band’s instrumental tunes defined and clean, because their musical work needs to be fully understood. And the production really did a great work!

All the songs of “Tyrant” are truly amazing, creating a precious jewel to the fans. And just a listening to “Serve” (very good contrasts between slow and fast parts, supported by a strong and good work from bass guitar and drums), “Genesis” (a song with very good guitar riffs and a refined technical work), “Vanitas” (this one shows very good slow rhythms, and a crude and nasty ambience permeated by very good grunts), “Panem” (a modern and experimental song with a crushing and catchy ambiance), “Tyrant” (a whirlwind of chaos and aggressiveness, but will with excellent musical arrangements), and “Naturae” will show that these guys have to offer. And it’s not just a little!

Well, “Tyrant” speaks for itself and it’s proof that BLISS OF FLESH is really an outstanding name. Listen to it, and blow your ears off!
