Brett Walker - Nevertheless (Reissue) Award winner

Brett Walker
Nevertheless (Reissue)
by Katarzyna Zakolska at 14 March 2013, 2:32 PM

BRETT WALKER is an American melodic Rock singer, song writer and musician. His first solo record “Nevertheless” was originally released back in 1994. “Nevertheless” was produced by David Prater (Producer of DREAM THEATER & FIREHOUSE). Two songs from this CD were also co-written and produced by Jonathan Cain. In 2013 this album was reissued and provided a new digital remastering by Jamie King. On this album there is also available one new remix added as a bonus track.

The whole “Nevertheless” album is filled with catchy melodies and perfectly played AOR. “Hard To Find An Easy Way” is seamless opener of this album. The catchy chorus will dig deep in your mind placing its head, great sounds of guitars and Walker singing in the vein of Bryan Adams. Also worth mentioning is the grand guitar solo. “Lecia” is an affliction of TOTO & JOURNEY judging by the riffing. “Take Me Home” cracks the sky with a BON JOVI AORish sensation following a spiked chorus. “Quicksand”, another AOR flavour, slams with rather heavy guitar riffs & clear rhythmic section. I Love it, what a memorable chorus, fantastic sounds and a killer guitar solo. “Bring Back The Night”, probably one of the best AOR songs ever, everything is perfect, surely it will leave you in a fair mood. The same almost occurred with “Bad Time For Goodbye” with melodious sounds once again hinting of TOTO & JOURNEY. “No Fire Without You”  shares a classic power chorus with texts like: “There's no fire without you burning in my heart…”, along with great overall sound and a hell of a guitar solo. “More Than A Memory” is energetic and melodic. “Midnight Angel”, is a killer, hard to believe it is a bonus. This is a new remix with choir singing and an amazing bass line with impressive showcase of riffs, the beauty of Rock music, reminding a bit of the THE HOOTERS.

“Nevertheless” is highly recommend to listening because it generates a good mood of relaxation and total enjoyment. The songs are very catchy and easy to memorize I think that fans of U2, BON JOVI, DEF LEPPARD, TOTO, JOURNEY, BRYAN ADAMS and every other fan of AOR will take pleasure of hearing this one.
