Burning Witches - Dance with the Devil

Burning Witches
Dance with the Devil
by Jean-François ‘’Jackal’’ Poulin at 24 February 2020, 11:54 AM

BURNING WITCHES is an all Female Heavy Metal band out of Brugg, Switzerland. This is their third full-length album in the span of only three years. They are making their name out there and were recently spotlighted in the Metal Hammer magazine back in Germany and are growing a steady following wherever they go.

I think they are the new GIRLSCHOOL, they have that attitude and talent no matter the gender. Back in the day GIRLSCHOOL could compete with MOTORHEAD as to being total hellraisers and just giving a hell of a show. They didn’t back down from the limits and restrictions (or may I say the judgmental people) and did what they wanted to do. This is what music is supposed to be, be yourself, play what style you want and have fun out there. It doesn’t matter if its 20, 200 or 2000 people, make music to make yourself happy. I think we live in a very open world and I know a lot of people don’t like the Female Fronted term but it’s simply a fact, it’s not criticizing the matter. Music is for everyone, no matter your gender or your age!

I can hear a lot of different influences in this band and it’s definitely not something overly original but they do add flair et substance to their compositions. They pull no punches and this album is a love letter to bands like PRIMAL FEAR, early JUDAS PRIEST and IRON MAIDEN. The band is extremely tight and have some pretty killer hooks and choruses. It’s a pure headbanger. They deliver something exciting yet not something really original to say the least. I know its pretty hard to make something so original that it sticks out but I digress. They do a fine job of making a good old school Heavy Metal album with some real attitude. They are definitely a band to look for if you go see any European Metal festival and I am pretty sure that they give a damn good show. These girls let it all out and deliver a promising album and the future is bright that’s for sure.
