Byfrost – Of Death Award winner

Byfrost
Of Death
by Daryl Adolph at 29 June 2011, 6:07 AM

I remember reviewing Norway's Byfrost for another site a long time ago, and smile with that memory. I gave it a 8 out of 10… and was completely impressed with this bands talent and conviction to their music. In the black Metal world… they are one of the true front runners in my books… now with a brand new album in my hands, I get to see if my suspicions on how good Byfrost would get were right on.

Byfrost sounded incredible before… now they have surpassed anything I was expecting. Still combining looming and caustic Black Metal with a the melodies and power of thrash, they have polished themselves into what I see as the perfect Black Metal band. They not only have improved on their sound – they set the standards for what Black metal is and will be for many years to come.

So many songs , so many great ones – I cannot pick one. These guys have become my Satanic Heroes.. and I know how cheesy that seems to sound like – but that is the truth here. Complexity of songs, utter rawness, shredding guitars that herald the return of the darkness and wrap it all up in a heavy dosing of pure evil… this band has it all and then some. The sound on each track, sent shivers down my spine, and made me raise the horns more than once… this is a album that just grabs your soul.

As you can tell, I love the album. The band has surpassed themselves, and the world needs to know of the. Horns up and thank the unholy ones, Byfrost 's Of Death has 'Classic' stamped on it… I hate using the term… but this album deserves it.
