Cage - Astrology (CD)

Cage
Astrology
by Makis Kirkos at 15 March 2001, 6:12 PM

After releasing their debut album Unveiled, for Omega Records, Cage have returned with their second effort. No doubt the band is influenced by Judas Priest, something pleasant for us all.
Astrology features some quite good tunes such as Final Solution, Psychotically Deranged, The Edge, Root of All Evil, and the album closer The Astrologicon. Much more heavier compared to their first album, thanks to guitarist Dave Garcia and their production which reminds us much more '80's rooted music. Singer, Sean Peck reminds again Midnight (Ex-Crimson Glory), so for those of you who like this type of voice, this should be a good purchase.
Time to strike at the bone now. Unfortunately, due to an only semi-good mix, Mike Giordano's bass can hardly be heard, giving the album a very thin sound. I don't know if this was deliberated or no, but I think the band should amend it. On the other side, the soloing of Garcia and Eric Horton seems tighter and more focused. This admits the band's performance which I have to say is very good.
Cage sound fast while they blend strong choruses, slow churner's and nasty slowdown sections. A definitely mature album that will make you head-bang around the room for a while. For sure if you are a fan of the '80's heavy metal style you won't be disappointed. And if you are not… than start listening to some!!!
