CARE OF NIGHT was founded by guitarist
Jonathan Carlemar (ex
DEMONSLAVE/ex
ATLANTICA) and
Kristofer von Wachenfeldt (ex
PLATITUDE) on Keyboards/Backing vocals, after the split of their early mutual band
SEVEN TEARS in order to reach their ideal sound, a softest more AOR kind of Melodic Rock. After many changes and personal turmoils, the release of a 4-song E.P. in 2013 (still available on iTunes and Spotify), the band found its stability, and it was time for them to reveal their talent with their first full length album. Now the boys in the band are ready to serve a slice of delicious High tech AOR melodies onto a silver platter.
CARE OF NIGHT once again turned to the
Wigelius brothers to record their debut CD
“Connected” and signed a deal with
AOR HEAVEN and set a date for a release in late January 2015 . The sound is 100% Swedish AOR, think early
H.E.A.T meets
WORK OF ART meets
HOUSTON meets
STREET TALK meets
SPIN GALLERY…Well, you get my rhetoric drift by now, it’s like ‘keyboards Feast’ and ‘Chorus Heaven’ in Sunny South of Sweden!
The opening cut
“Cassandra” is the perfect summary of what
“Connected” is all about, bright and bold with a sparkling method in the catchy melodies in the key of love. If the amazing vocalist
Calle Schönberg takes the lead and shares with his superb voice and his positive energy, the other members are more than competent, notably Mr.
Carlemar who provides some first class lead chops in the subtle tradition of
Schon &
Scholtz (
“Those Words” or
“Unify”).
Obviously, with the magical
“Dividing Lines” and its warm Saxophone interventions,
Carl-Johan Schönberg's stunning vocal abilities are once again under the spotlights, same for
“Hearts Belong” finding a triumphal point with its tasteful arrangements, addictive chorus and still the warm voice.
”Say a Prayer” contains an angelic choir and the obsession for harmonized choir reaches its peak with
”Unify” and
“Give Me Strength.”The closing number
"Say You Will" is an emotional cut with acoustic guitars slightly orchestrated with strings and another perfectly mastered vocal performance from both the choir and by the impressive Mr.
Schönberg.
Not a single trace of originality but the recipe is so perfect- I’ll ask a question: who needs to change a winning team? The desperate traditionalists and the pure AOR aficionados will be delighted by this scintilant wave of enchanting sounds.
