Catamenia - The Rewritten Chapters

Catamenia
The Rewritten Chapters
by Jorge "The Zarto" Zamudio at 07 June 2012, 3:09 PM

This is something new for me, CATAMENIA is a band that has been on the long road since 1995, but I’ve never heard anything by them, so this makes me maybe the “most qualified” fucker on earth to say something about them, just because I’ll be objective since I know nothing (maybe less) of this band.

It’s a classic formula used since ancient times, a mix between the most extreme Metal and the contrast with clean voices and slow tempos, nothing new, but… one moment, did I say 1995? Hell yeah!!! these guys have been playing this style since ancient times, so this probably makes them a part of the pioneers of what is known as “extreme Metal”, showing that not only passion was needed to be a Metalhead, but talent and inspiration are also part of this band.

The vocals are excellent; the Black Metal influence is present along the songs, that high harsh is magnificent and gives the illusion of being in the nineties, when Metal was in its best (personal opinion, don’t judge me mtfkrs), guitars are good, having their moments, solos, riffs, rhythms, bridges, etc. the percussion sound is awesome, drums are always available to break the sound, showing great technique and coordination, bass is good, but sometimes you may lost its sound in the wind.

For the last song: BON JOVI, I hate you from the bottom of my heart, finally somebody has decided to do something good with your songs, hehe.

The only thing that is bad, and really bad: the production, I know this is a greatest hits, but for a rerecorded production, in 2012 this is really lame, sound lost sometimes, low moments, and sometimes you could not hear the sound of the percussion, come on, this has taken some points out, the fans in nowadays deserve something better.

For the end, I could only say: this is a must have for the beginners, in Metal world, but I advise you, mi readers, go and check each and every album, this is only a compilation, there’s more from this came out, and for sure, much more better.
