Centripetal Force - Eidetic

Centripetal Force
Eidetic

Italian Thrash has always impressed me, so I blindly picked this one to figure out, what the latest stuff is going on in the Italian Metal scene. So we have here a debut EP “Eidetic” by Progressive Thrashers CENTRIPETAL FORCE, with just 3 songs in there. So let’s get this shit started.

The EP starts with the band’s ST “Centripetal Force”. The song is nothing like what I expected Thrash to be, which is a good thing in a way, but I have very little threshold for progressive music, and soon the song gave me familiar feelings of “this is good music, but not my thing” kind of feelings. It has some good strong guitar and drum work going on, but the vocals are forgettable. With duel vocals (both which are clean), and haphazard song structure, “Eidetic Memory” is an interesting song, which actually pushes the boundary of what Thrash is, but often falls into the trap of trying too hard to sound too Progressive / different. The EP ends with an impressive song in “Death of a Marionette” which has plethora of catchy riffs, but the chaotic vocals again struggles to make sense to me, but as a whole is an interesting end to the EP.

For a debut EP, “Eidetic” is a record which evokes mixed feelings in me. It brings something very unique to the table, but at the same time, there is a lot to be refined. This is a good start for these Italian Thrashers, and pick this up for some 16 minutes of crazy fun.
