Hmm, another one guitar hero here! Clay Foster, a native of Florida, grew up playing and studying guitar mainly in the jazz flavour. His style mostly contains jazz, progressive rock and many metal elements as well. A Voice in the Wilderness features 10 tracks of exciting, new, instrumental guitar work and mostly applies to guitarists rather than normal people I think. Over the past years he has dealt with different styles of music, mainly progressive metal.
As you realize there is quite a lot of experimental mood thrown out around here! I think this is his first official release and this guy does quite amazing stuff here! In the 45 minutes and 33 seconds of this album you will find sounds in the likes of Jon Petrucci, Steve Vai, and guitar titans like them! It is quite difficult to manage to compose and record a truly unique guitar album these days - since there are so many good offers out there - but he can do his work not so bad after all. You will not find your head explode with madness or extra special ideas when you listen to this album - but his ideas are descent and honest and he delivers them to us with style and character. His approach ranges from minimalistic to ultra progressive from times to times and this creates a huge canvas of emotional variety throughout the album!
Let's hope that this young man will give us more of his guitar work samples in the near future with more passion and intensity - just like in this album - and continue his great work in the battlefields of guitar stringdom!
