Das Ich - Cabaret (CD)

Das Ich
by Elina Papadoyianni at 23 September 2006, 1:43 PM

Don't expect any kind of heavy metal sound; the only common ingredients used by this group are the spices of paranoia and dark theatrical insanity that add the flavour in this Gothic, Electro/Industrial mixture.
The German band Das Ich exists since 1989 with the album Cabaret being their 15th release. After two years of their successful electro/dynamic Lava, the two restless masterminds Stefan Ackermann and Bruno Kramm brought to light another peculiar gem using a more progressive approach, without forgetting basic elements that they introduced at their beginning. The German language and the dancing beats could remind us of a few other bands using a similar pattern, but it's the well-aimed theatrical tone that makes the difference. Distorted vocals embracing a dark, raging music, accompanied with an electronic orchestra with the theatrical effects accenting the result.
Each track in this album is a continuing of the other, as the band is dead set to make you feel abstract gothic atmosphere and explore the dark corners of Cabaret. Some of the tracks that stand out from the other are Paradigma, Macht, Atemlos, the homonymous Cabaret and the beautiful Nahe with the vocals of Marianne Iser.
Although in a music field I'm not particularly fond of, Das Ich managed to draw my attention and i give them all the credits for the way the have managed to place throughout the years Electro/Goth in a more high quality level.
