De La Cruz - Street Level Award winner

De La Cruz
Street Level
by CJ "Music God" Plain at 18 March 2013, 5:35 PM

Hailing from the Gold Coast of Australia, Frontiers Records has released the debut album of the Hard Rockin' band, DE LA CRUZ, "Street Level".

"Street Level" is full of anthem oriented, powerful Hard Rock tunes that will have you bobbing your head and pumping your fist in the air. The band's hungry, powerful approach is on full display here.

The CD kicks off with the amazing title track that reminds one of early LEATHERWOLF style Metal. "Girls Go Wild" screams of a great DANGEROUS TOYS influence. "Turn It Up" has a massive GUNS N' ROSES stimulus. "Gimme Love" has DEF LEPPARD written all over it. That's how this entire CD goes. You can hear all the great influences, done in a modern way with the band's own twist on it.

DE LA CRUZ pulls out all the stops on here. The guitars are in your face, the solos are classic, and the rhythm sections are dead on. The vocals of Roxxi Catalano he tons of power and he hits all the right notes to make these songs stand out. The songwriting is also top notch. The CD is so good; in fact, it's hard to believe that this is only the band's first full length release. These guys sound like they've been doing this for a decade.

What's great about this CD, as well, as it's gotten better with each listen. This is a CD that's just fun to listen to. It's got that infectious, make your ass move in your seat type of sound that made the hair bands of past so amazing to listen to.

Bottom line, this is a must have album. Any fan of Hair Rock, Glam, Sleaze, or the 80s will love this. If this is what these guys have done on their first CD, I can hardly wait to see what's in store for the future. There's not a bad song on this CD.

Turn it on, Turn it Up, and Turn On The Night!
