Elysium - Godfather (CD)

by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 14 June 2008, 8:38 PM

It has only been a while since I reviewed Torture Garden from the Polish band DEMISE. I was pretty confused, since the album was originally released in 2005 by Empire Records, but the one I got said that it had a 2008 release date through Metal Mind Productions. This album has some common things with Torture Garden, to be more precise…

…it was originally released in 2005. And I say released, since it came as an enclosure to the Polish magazine Thrash'em All. In fact, Maciej Miskiewicz is the editor of the specific magazine, so what I wrote above seems logical. Let's see what this release can offer to us…

Godfather is a nice melodic Death/Thrash Metal album with all the classic elements this kind of music requires. As you all know the most important thing in such bands is the riffing, which in this case is good enough to help ELYSIUM avoiding falling into the pit of mediocrity. Miskiewicz also has a nice and powerful voice helping the band to present music in a much more aggressive and macho way. There are not many things that make Godfather something more than just a nice album, but the band shows some signs of great things to come.

If you are a fan of bands like HATESPHERE, old IN FLAMES or NIGHTRAGE you will probably find this album to be a really good addition to your collection; but as you will see for yourselves, there is nothing really amazing about. Just one more decent release by a band that struggles to make a name in the Metal scene. The only good thing is that Metal Mind officially releases an album that was only given with a magazine some years ago and now many people will have the chance to lay their hands on it. And for your information, no bonus stuff here…
