Eminence - The God Of All Mistakes (CD)

The God Of All Mistakes
by Yiannis Dafopoulos at 09 May 2008, 9:33 PM

The fact that the components of this album would be definitely modern and brutal was something I understood from the very first time I saw the cover artwork. There are some bands that prepare you for what you are going to listen with their name, logo or cover. For instance, if you saw a CANNIBAL CORPSE cover what would you expect to face? Symphonic Power Metal?

The Brazilian metallers were formed in early 1995 and included former SEPULTURA guitarist Jairo Guedz. The band went through several line up changes, but that was not a problem for them to win the first place in their state and third place in the national key ranking at the Skol Rock contest. EMINENCE's previous album Humanology (2003) made a really good impression to the Metal scene and the band is back with a brand new offering via their new label Locomotive Records.

The Brazilian metallers are more than respectful to their country's Metal Gods SEPULTURA, while mixing this groovy Thrash Metal base with many modern MACHINE HEAD meets PANTERA elements along with some slight FEAR FACTORY touches (mostly due to the sometimes Industrial aesthetic). The God Of All Mistakes features some really cool, but not so unique music… BUT WHO THE FUCK CARES? These guys have manages to craft a kind of music that some may describe as modern Thrash Metal or Groove/Thrash Metal, but I really don't give a damn.

The only thing I know is that EMINENCE have managed to create an album that stuck into my poor brain from its first note! You can't even believe the power these guys have! Even though their music is nothing groundbreaking, they manage to attract your attention with their dynamic performance and kick your ass with some macho attitude and relentless in your face outbreaks! For the quality sound lovers, the album was produced by the one and only Tue Madsen (THE HAUNTED, HALFORD, DARK TRANQUILLITY) and the sound is really nice. Check them out and you will definitely be satisfied with what you will hear.
