Evil In - Age of Immortal Darkness

Evil In
Age Of Immortal Darkness
by Allen Peters at 01 October 2022, 11:44 AM

UK duo, EVIL IN, present to us, “Age of Immortal Darkness”. It is their second album, consisting of 6 tracks that mostly involve the cheerful subject of death in some form or fashion. With open arms, they invite us into their vision of horror and fear.

It starts with a haunting intro to get us in the mood, no Metal flavor here but I dare say it will soon follow. With a chainsaw like buzz, it does kicks in with “Merciless Ancient Evil,” giving us a simple grinding and chopping style on the ax. Mixing it up with a brief old school solo, it picks right back up and finishes similarly to the start.

Head pulsing guitars follow up with a unique rhythm on “Demon Grave Robbers” before it descends into an also unique musical chaos. It has fresh approach and style to the song, props to that. Back to business as usual with “Holy Innocents Cemetery”. I am sure that the innocent dead would be proud of the shout out.

Slowing it down a little after the cemetery, the terror continues right along with its vibe until “Salvage Or Die,” kicks it back up to wide open again before stepping it back down a notch with more of a clunky feel with, “Destination Earth”. This one is my least favorite song so far but they all can’t be home runs. I wish that they would have gone out a little harder but that wasn’t the plan and I’m not the one driving so we will ride with what we have got. It was all enjoyable though. The stated goal in the press release was for them to give us something with its own character and a reflection of the individual approach to their vision of Metal. I would say that their goal was achieved and that is not always an easy thing to do in this style of music.

All in all, if you like deep, dark death tones in your music and that’s what you need at this moment in your life to make your day better, this sad story should make your day better, give it a listen.
