Eyefear - 9 Elements Of Inner Vision (CD)

Eyefear
9 Elements Of Inner Vision
by Alex Farmakis at 28 December 2004, 4:36 PM

Eyefear was formed in the summer of '94 by Con Papazoglou, Rob Gorham and Zain Kimmie along with a couple of friends. After months of rehearsing and playing various local gigs, the band entered Toyland Studios and recorded their debut album, Edge Of Existence, between November '95 and March '96. The album was filled with well thought-out Power Metal compositions with focus on melody and powerful dual guitars.
Unfortunately though, things took a sudden change - and by 1997 the original line-up of Eyefear fell apart. By 1998 the remaining members of Eyefear (Con, Rob and Zain) decided to give it another shot, and hooked up with a new guitarist and another singer. By September 2000 new vocalist Danny Cecati came on board. Danny used to be the frontman for the Australian Metal band Pegazus. After a few months a new keyboardist was found, Sam Giaccotto, and the band was ready.
This was the history of the band. They have now released their second album entitled 9 Elements Of Inner Vision. Eyefear play Melodic Power/Progressive Metal on this album. Their guitar riffs are very solid and the drum and bass structure is pretty good. The keyboards spread an atmosphere full of sorrow and despair. Their atmosphere is very close to the melancholic atmosphere of Evergrey.
Danny Cecati's voice is very good. He always was a very good singer since the time when he sang for Pegazus and he has contributed to the creation of the epic atmosphere of their songs. We see him now having another role. His voice now completes the melancholic and desperate atmosphere that Eyefear want to create and he is doing this job pretty well and easily.
9 Elements Of Inner Vision is a good album and will please all the fans of melancholic Power/Progressive Metal. If you are a fan of Evergrey you will definitely find in Eyefear another very good band performing the kind of music you like in the best way.
